FGFIX v1.0 - Documentation
Introduction:
Fontographer 3.3 allows the inclusion of some non-standard characters in the
plain text portion of Type 1 fonts destined for the DOS platform. These are
NULL characters (ASCII 0) and high ASCII characters (ASCII 128 to 255). The
inclusion of these characters to the plain text portion of a Type 1 font can
lead to incompatibilities, printer font rejection, etc. Furthermore, these
characters are meaningless to the definition of a Type 1 font. The PS
interpreter only expects and accepts plain text commands when receiving the
plain text portion of a Type 1 soft font. FGFIX is a simple DOS command line
utility that replaces all occurrences of these non-standard characters with
spaces (ASCII 32).
Using FGFIX:
First make a backup of your Fontographer 3.3 font. Then at the DOS prompt
type:
FGFIX fontname.pfb
Replace "fontname.pfb" with the name of the font you want to fix, for example,
"FGFIX d:\psfonts\myfgfont.pfb" FGFIX will first verify the font as a valid
Fontographer 3.3 Type 1 soft font and then proceed to fix it.
